The Hunter

Walking in the bush between homes in an incredibly rural village in Mozambique last week ( I was visiting Luisa and Jaos, see story below), I came across two little hunters. The one on the right especially captured my imagination. His face was hard and experienced like an old Northern bear trapper; his weapon was slung expertly on his shoulder; his little legs, though dressed in red, checkered pajama pants, were bowed. Though his friend was amused when I asked to take their photo, the pajama-pant hunter seemed annoyed and bored.

I saw him again one evening a week later on the same path. He was still wearing the red pajama pants.

Yes, those are for eating
